Hisar Police have arrested Satpal, a private bus driver from Arniyawali village, for allegedly stealing approximately 40 kilograms of silver worth nearly Rs 65 lakh from a passenger. Authorities recovered the entire consignment within 24 hours.
According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Mayank Mudgil, an FIR was registered at Agroha Police Station based on a complaint filed by Ravindra. The complainant stated that the silver belonged to Rajesh Sharma, who was travelling on a private bus operated by Vijay Travels.
On the morning of March 19, Rajesh Sharma discovered that his bag containing 39 kg 844 grams of silver had been stolen during the journey. Acting quickly, a joint team of Hisar Police Special Staff and Agroha police launched an investigation. Following suspicion expressed by the victim, police tracked Satpal via his mobile number and apprehended him at the Hisar bus stand.
During interrogation, Satpal confessed that he had been working as a private bus driver for 2–3 months. He had noticed that Rajesh Sharma frequently travelled with silver and had planned the theft in advance. On March 19, when the bus stopped at a petrol pump, Satpal took advantage of the passenger using the restroom, stole the bag, and hid it in bushes across the road. The police subsequently recovered the entire stolen silver based on his disclosure.
Further investigation into the case is ongoing to ensure no accomplices were involved.
