In a shocking incident in Satna district, Madhya Pradesh, a 45-year-old man was bludgeoned to death with a brick following an argument over a DJ song request during a family function. The crime occurred in the early hours of Friday, in Dongri Nai Basti.
The victim, identified as Chandu alias Jamuna Adivasi, had attended a relative’s function. Celebrations with DJ music began around 10 PM and continued into the early morning hours of Saturday.
According to the complainant Chedilal Adivasi (35), Chandu’s brother-in-law, he was eating when he heard a loud argument. Stepping out, he saw Dadu Adivasi, a local resident, quarreling with Chandu over playing a particular song on the DJ.
Despite attempts by bystanders to intervene, Dadu escalated the dispute, threatened Chandu, and then struck him on the head with a brick, causing him to collapse and bleed profusely. Chandu was rushed to the district hospital on a motorcycle, but was declared dead on arrival.
Chedilal and other eyewitnesses reported the incident to the police. A case was registered under BNS Section 103(1) (murder) and Section 296 (obscene acts and songs in public places). Police arrested Dadu Adivasi, who confessed to the crime during interrogation. He has since been remanded to judicial custody by a local court.
The incident has sparked outrage in the local community, highlighting the dangers of minor disputes escalating into fatal violence.
