Saran Police Arrest Two Cyberfrauds in Rs 45 Lakh Digital Fraud Case

Cyber fraudsters nabbed from Mau and Varanasi in digital bank theft

Saran Police have arrested two more cyberfrauds in connection with the illegal withdrawal of Rs 45 lakh from the bank account of Vikas Kumar, a resident of Nehru Tola under Mashrakh police station in Saran district. The arrests were made on Monday, and the accused are from Mau and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The police had earlier arrested three suspects from Ghaziabad and one from Barrackpore (West Bengal) in relation to the same digital fraud case.

According to DSP-cum-SHO of the Cyber Police Station, Aman, Vikas Kumar had filed a complaint on November 3 of the previous year. He stated that he had received a video call in which the caller identified himself as an officer from the Crime Branch. The fraudster convinced Vikas to sign an affidavit for the verification of his cellphone number. Moments later, Rs 45,86,000 was withdrawn from his bank account.

The Chhapra Cyber Police Station registered a case under the relevant sections of the BNS and initiated an investigation. Based on a technical probe, police arrested Nikhil Burnwal and Golu Sonkar, both residents of Walidpur under Mohammadabad police station in Mau district. The cyber police have also frozen Rs 4.7 lakh found in the fraudsters’ accounts, which will be returned to the victim upon completion of the necessary formalities.

This case highlights the ongoing issue of digital fraud and the diligent work of the Saran Cyber Police in tracking down and apprehending those responsible for such crimes.
