Tickfaw Drug Operation Busted: Two Felons Arrested
TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. — Two convicted felons have been arrested for running a meth distribution operation out of their home in Tickfaw, authorities said.
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO), working with the Hammond Police Department, apprehended Sara Hughes, 35, and Stephen Roberson, 58, following a community tip and multi-day surveillance of a residence in the 16000 block of Johnson Lane.
According to officials, the investigation led to a search and arrest operation conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 17, by TPSO Narcotics detectives and the Hammond Police SWAT team. Inside the home, officers discovered:
Half a pound of methamphetamine
A stolen firearm
A stolen vehicle
Paraphernalia hidden in toolboxes and blankets
Sara Hughes was arrested at the scene and faces charges including:
Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics
Possession of Schedule III narcotics
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Possession of weapons while in possession of CDS
Convicted felon in possession of a firearm
Possession of stolen firearms and items ($25,000+)
Illegal possession of stolen things
Outstanding warrants and traffic violations
Stephen Roberson, who fled the scene, was later arrested at his workplace after evading law enforcement for over an hour. He faces similar charges, including:
Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics
Possession of Schedule III narcotics
Possession of stolen firearms and items
Possession of weapons while in possession of CDS
Resisting an officer
Two counts of felon in possession of a firearm
Both suspects are now in custody, and authorities say additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
