Sao Sokna Arrested for Assaulting Bank Staff, Officer

Man breaks bank employee’s nose, smashes police car window

KANDAL PROVINCE, Cambodia – A 27-year-old man, identified as Sao Sokna, also known as Channa, was arrested on July 12, 2025, after allegedly assaulting a bank employee and damaging a police vehicle outside ACLEDA Bank in Prek Thmey Village, Koh Thom District.

Authorities report that the incident began when Sokna demanded money from Sruy Savin, a 32-year-old bank employee. When the request was denied, Sokna reportedly struck Savin in the face with a pipe wrench, causing a broken nose and heavy bleeding.

During the chaos, Sokna also targeted a police vehicle, breaking two windows belonging to 49-year-old officer Hor Narin.

Citizens and security guards subdued the suspect on-site and handed him over to police. Sokna is currently in custody at the Koh Thom District Police Office, where legal proceedings are underway.

Police confirmed that charges related to assault and property destruction are being prepared.
