Shirur Police recently apprehended a notorious motorcycle thief, Santosh alias Sharad Gajanan Ingole (29), who had been involved in a string of motorcycle thefts across Pune district. The arrest uncovered 11 stolen motorcycles, collectively worth Rs6.6 lakh, and revealed his involvement in multiple thefts in the region.
Ingole, a resident of Pangiri Kute in Malegaon, was tracked down after a series of motorcycle thefts occurred in the Shirur jurisdiction. Police teams were swiftly deployed to investigate and gather leads. Based on a tip-off, Ingole was arrested at his native Malegaon. During questioning, Ingole confessed to stealing the motorcycles and provided information that led to the recovery of the stolen vehicles.
According to Ramesh Chopade, Additional SP of Pune Rural Police, this isn’t Ingole’s first offense. The police had already registered seven theft cases against him at different police stations, and now he is linked to 11 additional thefts, totaling 18 cases. Ingole had reportedly been selling the stolen motorcycles to unsuspecting buyers at cheap rates, promising to provide the necessary documents later.
The police are continuing their investigation, and more arrests are expected as the inquiry progresses.
