Sadar police have registered fresh cases against iron trader Santosh alias Bunty Shahu and his brother Jayesh Shahu for allegedly grabbing a 1,465 square meter plot in Mouza Chikli (Devsthan). The plot was originally allocated by the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) to the Shahu Samaj Health and Education Society for community purposes. However, the accused are said to have used forged documents to unlawfully claim ownership.
Bunty Shahu has been charged with cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy. He was arrested on Sunday and sent to police custody for two days. This is in addition to several other ongoing criminal cases against him. The complaint was filed by NIT property secretary-II, Pravin Dekate (53).
Earlier in May 2025, Bunty was apprehended along with seven others in connection with laundering crores through an alleged GST scam. Authorities suspect that Bunty is part of a larger network involved in misappropriating public assets. Police are urging anyone with information or similar experiences to come forward and report such cases.
