Rohtak police arrested three men, including the alleged mastermind Sanjay, along with his accomplices Virender and Rohit, from the Industrial Model Township (IMT) area following an encounter on Friday.
The trio is accused of the November 7 double murder of Dharambir, 58, and his 22-year-old son Deepak Kumar, in Baliyana village, Rohtak district. Authorities recovered two pistols, six cartridges, and a scooty during the operation.
According to Rohtak SP Surinder Singh Bhoria, police acted on a tip-off around 5 a.m. When Sanjay was asked to surrender, he opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate. All three accused were injured and admitted to PGIMS, where their condition is reported to be stable.
The double murder stemmed from a longstanding rivalry between two Baliyana families. In 2023, Dharambir’s elder son Sachin was involved in the killing of a local, Jagbir. Sanjay, Jagbir’s brother, along with Virender and Rohit, allegedly attacked Dharambir and Deepak in retaliation. Earlier arrests of Himanshu and Sunny from Baliyana were made by Sonepat police on a Rohtak tip-off.
