In a major cyberfraud bust, the Haryana Police arrested Sanjay Singh, operator of a coaching institute in Patna’s Pirbahore police station area, late Friday evening. Singh is accused of defrauding victims of Rs 2.43 crore through a fake digital arrest scam.

Authorities said Singh was part of a gang that tricked people online, posing as law enforcement officials and pressuring them to transfer money to avoid arrest. The arrest followed a digital arrest complaint filed with the Rohtak police. A Haryana cyber cell team traveled to Patna, apprehended Singh, and began interrogation.

Initially denying involvement, Singh later admitted, when confronted with bank account transactions, that he participated due to financial difficulties. His primary role was to collect money for the gang.

SHO Mohd Sajjad confirmed that Singh, a resident of Sitamarhi, operates a coaching institute in Bhikhna Pahadi, Patna, preparing students for competitive exams. Singh has been taken to Haryana on transit remand, and further investigation by the cyber police is ongoing.
