In a major breakthrough, the Jalandhar Rural Police have busted an inter-district motorcycle theft gang, arresting two key members—Sandeep Singh, alias Soni, and Tarjinder Singh, alias Kaka. The team also recovered six stolen motorcycles, including high-end models like the Yamaha R-15 and Bajaj Pulsar.
SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh shared details of the operation, which began after a complaint from Surjit Singh of Raipur Araian. His black Splendor Plus motorcycle was stolen on January 7, prompting the registration of an FIR at Mehatpur Police Station.
Under the supervision of DSP Shahkot Onkar Singh Brar and Inspector Sukhdev Singh, SHO of Mehatpur, a focused investigation led to the suspects’ arrest. Interrogation revealed the duo’s involvement in multiple thefts across different districts. They specialized in targeting unattended motorcycles, modifying their identifiers, and selling them elsewhere.
Both accused have criminal backgrounds and were previously involved in similar theft cases. A third gang member, Buta Singh, remains at large, and efforts to apprehend him are ongoing.
This swift action by the Jalandhar Rural Police has significantly disrupted the gang’s operations, providing much-needed relief to vehicle owners across the region.
