SAN ANTONIO – Ruben Vasquez, a 52-year-old officer with the San Antonio Police Department, was arrested and charged with family assault on Thursday. The incident occurred while he was off duty on February 5, and he was taken into custody by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a call for assault at Vasquez’s residence in the 8900 block of Highland Gate around 9:45 a.m. on Thursday. The victim, a family member, reported that the argument between them escalated into a physical altercation.
According to the victim, Vasquez raised his fist and moved toward her, prompting her to push him away to create distance. Vasquez then responded by pushing her with both hands, causing her to fall and suffer lower back pain.
