Two 18-year-olds have been arrested in connection with nearly $1 million stolen from a Walmart in San Angelo, according to police. The San Angelo Police Department (SAPD) announced significant progress in an ongoing investigation into a suspected large-scale theft operation, stating that detectives have been diligently gathering evidence and identifying suspects involved.

The primary suspects, Carmelo D. Amigleo and Ryan Munoz, both residents of San Angelo, were arrested and later released from the Tom Green County Jail on $350,000 bail each.

The investigation began on July 23, when SAPD detectives were alerted to a substantial theft occurring at the Walmart located at 1852 Sherwood Way. Following this notification, multiple detectives committed their efforts to bring the suspects to justice and halt their criminal activities.

Preliminary findings indicate that approximately $1 million has been stolen from this Walmart over the past year. Arrest warrants were issued for Amigleo and Munoz, leading to their apprehension without incident.

On July 28, detectives executed two search warrants at local residences, uncovering various pieces of evidence and stolen proceeds related to the theft.

Both Amigleo and Munoz were charged with theft of property and have since been released. SAPD encourages anyone with additional information about the case to contact Concho Valley Crime Stoppers at 325-658-HELP, assuring that callers will remain anonymous.

“The safety and well-being of our community remain a top priority,” stated SAPD, adding that they will continue to pursue any further leads in this case.
