EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) — An Evansville man is facing multiple charges, including impersonating a public servant, after he allegedly told a bar bouncer he was a federal agent.
The incident occurred early Friday morning at the Corner Pocket bar on Fulton Avenue. Police say 39-year-old Samuel Kinyanjui was kicked out of the bar for threatening a customer and attempted to re-enter.
After being ejected, Kinyanjui went to his car, where security believed he was concealing a gun. He then reportedly claimed to be a federal agent but refused to provide credentials. Kinyanjui also made threats, telling security that touching him was a federal offense.
He was told to pay his tab but refused and left the scene. Police later found him parked at a nearby storage unit and walking in an area behind the bar. Upon being stopped by officers, Kinyanjui admitted to having a knife, but no weapon was found during a pat-down. However, a large kitchen knife was discovered in his vehicle.
Kinyanjui was arrested on charges of impersonating a federal agent, intimidation, theft, and other related offenses. He reportedly declined to speak with police after his arrest.
