Samuel Hitchcock Arrested for July Murder of Homeless Man in Bellevue
BELLEVUE, Wash. – Authorities have arrested Samuel Hitchcock, 28, in connection with the murder of a 54-year-old homeless man whose body was discovered on July 30 next to a building near Eastgate Way and 139th Avenue Southeast.
Hitchcock, previously identified as a suspect, was taken into custody in a residential area in Portland, Oregon. The Bellevue Police Department confirmed that the arrest was made with the assistance of the Portland Police Bureau and the U.S. Marshals Service.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was found dead beside a facility building. Investigators say Hitchcock not only killed the man but also robbed him. He now faces charges of first-degree murder and robbery.
Before his arrest, Hitchcock had been described as 5-foot-7 and 125 pounds. Authorities had warned the public not to approach him, citing safety concerns.
The case highlights the collaborative efforts between local and federal law enforcement in apprehending violent offenders who flee across state lines.
