Samor Jyoti Das Held in Crores Job Scam in Assam

Accused posed as middleman for govt job placements

by Ananya Mehta

A major employment scam has been uncovered in Assam, with the arrest of Samor Jyoti Das by the Guwahati Police Crime Branch. Das allegedly orchestrated a large-scale fraud by promising government job placements in the Water Resources Department to unsuspecting individuals.

Pretending to be a well-connected middleman, Das collected lakhs of rupees from over a hundred victims, assuring them of secure jobs. His scam came to a halt when police apprehended him at Paltan Bazaar Railway Station as he attempted to flee by train.

Authorities estimate that Das swindled crores of rupees over a long period. Shockingly, this is not his first run-in with the law—he was previously arrested two years ago for similar fraudulent activities.

Police are now deepening their investigation, with more revelations expected as the case unfolds.
