Samastipur Police and the Special Task Force (STF) have cracked a high-profile bank heist involving Rs 15 lakh in cash and jewellery valued at over Rs 4 crore. The police recovered gold worth nearly Rs 1 crore and arrested four suspects, including a goldsmith.
On May 7, around six armed robbers disguised as customers stormed the Bank of Maharashtra branch in Kashipur, Samastipur. They held staff and customers at gunpoint, locked them in a room, and executed the robbery. The police identified the mastermind as Karmveer Kumar, who had a bounty of Rs 2 lakh on his head.
Samastipur ASP Sanjay Kumar Pandey said, “Karmveer led the robbery. Along with him, four criminals were arrested in coordinated raids with the Patna STF.” The arrested have been named as Karmveer Kumar alias Dharmveer Kumar, Ravish Kumar, Bittu Kumar (a goldsmith), and Randhir Kumar alias Bablu.
The police continue their investigation to apprehend any other accomplices involved in the case.
