In a major drug bust, Mumbai Police have seized narcotic substances worth more than Rs6 crore from a residence in the Govandi area. The operation led to the arrest of Salman Shaikh, a 23-year-old resident of the house, on Tuesday night.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided Shaikh’s house and recovered a significant quantity of drugs. Among the seized items were three kilograms of mephedrone (MD), valued at Rs6 crore, 12 kilograms of ganja worth Rs2.40 lakh, 36 bottles of codeine phosphate (Corex) with a market value of Rs18,000, and Rs1.30 lakh in cash. The total value of the seized items was calculated to be Rs6,03,88,000.
Salman Shaikh was arrested under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police are now working to trace the source of the narcotics and uncover any wider drug trafficking network.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are focused on identifying additional leads related to the drug operation.
