Saleem Dambal, the man accused of murdering his six-year-old daughter in Macazana, was arrested in his hometown of Gadag, Karnataka, after evading police since April 29. The arrest followed an extensive manhunt, with authorities monitoring public places, railway stations, and bus stands.

Despite a previous search by a police team from Maina-Curtorim, Dambal had remained at large. However, he was eventually apprehended and brought to Goa for further legal proceedings.

According to police, Dambal attacked his daughter with a wooden stick while intoxicated. He also allegedly assaulted his wife and four-year-old son, inflicting injuries before fleeing the scene. The victim lived with her family in a makeshift hut in Macazana.

A case for murder and voluntary causing hurt has been filed against Dambal, and sections of the Goa Children’s Act have been invoked. The accused is expected to appear before a local court for remand proceedings. Investigators are hopeful that Dambal’s custodial interrogation will provide insights into his motives, as they continue their investigation.
