The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Salah Chellih, 71, in connection with a domestic homicide in Bonita Springs.
During a Thursday news conference, Sheriff Carmine Marceno revealed that on Wednesday, a delivery driver saw Chellih standing outside his home with two children, covered in blood. The driver and a neighbor reported the situation to deputies and followed Chellih into his residence, where they discovered the victim lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen.
Deputies found the victim had suffered more than 25 stab wounds. Upon deputies’ arrival, Chellih surrendered peacefully by placing his hands atop his head.
Sheriff Marceno confirmed the victim was related to Chellih, describing the incident as a domestic violence tragedy. “This was not a random act of violence,” Marceno said. He also commended the witnesses for their quick action in reporting the gruesome scene.
Chellih was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
