Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking, Budgam Police apprehended a drug peddler on Monday in the Chadoora area.
According to a police spokesperson, a team from Police Station Chadoora, led by HC Abdul Qayoom, was conducting routine naka checking at Alipora, Chadoora, when a suspect attempted to flee. The individual was swiftly caught.
The accused has been identified as Saifullah Farooq, son of Farooq Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Lalgam, Budgam. During a personal search, authorities recovered a heroin-like substance weighing approximately 8 grams, including polythene wrapping. The contraband was seized in accordance with legal procedures, and the suspect was arrested on the spot.
An FIR No. 05/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chadoora. The police have launched further investigations to trace the supply network.
Budgam Police reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug abuse and urged citizens to report any information regarding drug trafficking to help build a drug-free community.
