In a swift operation, Pernem Police arrested a 24-year-old labourer, Saidul Latib Mandal, in connection with a mobile phone theft from a parked truck in Dhargal. Mandal, originally from West Bengal and currently residing in Calangute, was arrested in Colvale on May 28.

Police recovered five stolen mobile phones and a smartwatch from his possession. The arrest follows a complaint filed by the truck owner after discovering his phone missing.

Following leads and using surveillance, Pernem Police successfully tracked Mandal to Colvale, where he was apprehended and interrogated. During questioning, he confessed to multiple mobile thefts, police said.

The case is being further investigated to determine whether Mandal was operating alone or as part of a larger theft network targeting parked vehicles in North Goa.
