Saheeda Khatoon, a 40-year-old woman, was arrested by the Banderdewa Police on February 17 for allegedly peddling drugs. The police seized 34.72 grams of heroin during a raid at her residence in Niya Colony, Banderdewa.
The operation was conducted following credible intelligence regarding illegal drug possession. A police team led by SDPO Naharlagun Rishi Longdo, along with officers SI SK Singh, SI Koj Tada, ASI SK Jha, ASI Anil Rajbhar, H/Ct. Tade Bomdom, Ct. R. Tsering, and L/Ct. K Yamung, carried out a house search under the supervision of SP Naharlagun, Shri Mihin Gambo, IPS.
During the raid, the police discovered three pouches containing suspected heroin hidden inside a soap case in the bedroom of the accused.
The arrested woman, Saheeda Khatoon, is the wife of Shri Najir Hussain and originally hails from Solsoni, Nagaon district, Assam. She was residing in a rented house in Niya Colony, Banderdewa at the time of her arrest.
A case has been registered against her under BDW/PS/Case No. 19/2025 U/S 21(b) of the NDPS Act. The police have launched further investigations to identify any links to larger drug trafficking networks operating in the region.
Authorities have emphasized their commitment to combating drug trafficking in the area, and the recent operation is part of the ongoing initiative, “Operation Dawn 2.0”.
