Koppal Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the Sunday night murder of 26-year-old Gavisiddappa Nayak from Kurubara Oni, police superintendent Ram Arasiddi confirmed.
The tragic incident, rooted in a love rivalry, unfolded with the use of deadly weapons. The main accused, Sadiq Hussain Kolkar, surrendered to the police immediately after the crime. Subsequently, Gesudaraj Patel, Mohammed Nizamuddin, and Mehboob Sikkalgar were also taken into custody.
Authorities seized two swords, a motorcycle, and clothing from the accused. Sadiq admitted to killing Nayak because of jealousy over their shared affection for the same girl. Medical reports confirmed that none of the suspects were under the influence of drugs at the time of the crime.
The violent attack, involving rods and machetes, has alarmed local residents. A video showing Sadiq wielding a sword on the day of the incident is under investigation.
Emotions ran high during the funeral held on Monday, where Nayak’s sisters tearfully bid farewell. Former minister B Sriramulu, who visited the family, criticized the police for inconsistent explanations and rushed procedures. He called for strict punishment and announced a community protest scheduled for August 8.
BJP leaders and Valmiki community members accompanied him, demanding justice for the slain youth.
