Ryan Medar Sentenced in Luzerne County Drug Conspiracy

134-month sentence for meth and cocaine trafficking

JENKINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Jenkins Township man has been sentenced to over 11 years in federal prison for his role in a drug distribution conspiracy.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 38-year-old Ryan Medar received a 134-month prison sentence followed by four years of supervised release for distributing methamphetamine and cocaine.

Medar previously pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances. The investigation revealed that he worked with several co-conspirators between October 2023 and April 2024 to traffic illegal drugs.

Law enforcement utilized a confidential informant who purchased methamphetamine and a firearm directly from Medar during the course of the investigation.

The sentencing marks another step in the DOJ’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in northeastern Pennsylvania.
