HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A Huntsville man has been arrested and charged with burglary and vehicle theft following multiple incidents at local businesses, according to the Huntsville Police Department (HPD).
On Monday, March 31, around 6 a.m., officers responded to a business in the 4000 block of Memorial Parkway after receiving a report of an unwanted guest. Upon arrival, officers escorted Rusty Lynn Burgess, 37, of Gurley, off the property.
Just 30 minutes later, police received another call about Burgess causing a disturbance at a separate business in the 2000 block of Nichols Drive. Once again, officers removed him from the premises.
Burglary and Vehicle Theft Investigation
During their investigation, authorities discovered that Burgess had arrived at the first business in a possibly stolen vehicle.
Further inquiries revealed that on Sunday, March 30, around 8 p.m., Burgess allegedly broke into a building in the 3500 block of Triana Avenue, stole the keys to a work vehicle, and then drove off in the stolen car.
Burgess was subsequently arrested and charged with burglary and theft of a vehicle. He has been booked into the Madison County Jail as the investigation continues.
