ATASCOSA COUNTY, Texas — A 31-year-old Del Valle man with multiple outstanding warrants was apprehended following a high-speed chase and dramatic foot pursuit, according to the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Ruben Garcia was wanted in Bexar County on charges including aggravated assault and multiple thefts. Deputies spotted him driving a stolen Jeep in Jourdanton and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Instead of pulling over, Garcia fled the scene, prompting a pursuit through the rural outskirts near Highway 173 and Fern Hollow Drive.

The chase ended when Garcia crashed through a fence and abandoned the vehicle, continuing to flee on foot. Deputies launched a search of the area.

During the manhunt, Garcia approached a nearby home where the armed resident confronted him and held him at gunpoint until deputies arrived and took him into custody.

Garcia was transported to the Atascosa County Jail. In addition to his existing Bexar County warrants, he now faces new charges including unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest in a vehicle, evading on foot, and criminal mischief.
