Rourkela Police Arrest Four in Fake Lottery Racket

Accused Sold Fake Lottery Tickets, Rs 25.37 Lakh Seized

The Rourkela Police unearthed a forged lottery racket, arresting four persons and seizing over Rs 25.37 lakh in cash.

Accused Details

Sanjay Sahu (51) – Sasaram, Bihar

Rajesh Kundu (50) – West Bengal, residing in Sector-16, Rourkela

Tukuna Mallick (48) – Sector-3, Rourkela

Uttam Kumar Ghosh (66) – Jagda, Rourkela

Modus Operandi

The gang sourced lottery tickets from other states and sold them illegally in Rourkela.

All tickets sold were fake, targeting mainly poor people.

Daily sales by a single agent reportedly exceeded Rs 28,000, with over 60 agents operating city-wide.

Preliminary investigation indicates the racket had been active since 2008, generating more than Rs 8 lakh daily.
