ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) — Two former Roswell Police Department officers have left the force after being charged in separate domestic violence cases, according to a recent report from the city’s Public Safety Committee.
Thomas Troy resigned in May while facing termination over a stalking arrest involving his ex-girlfriend. He is formally charged with:
Stalking
Disorderly conduct
Troy allegedly showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s residence, prompting legal action and internal disciplinary proceedings that led to his resignation.
In a separate case, Brandon Speights was fired last month after he turned himself in on accusations of physically assaulting his girlfriend. Speights now faces a charge of:
Battery against a household member
Both cases have sparked concern over officer conduct and have prompted calls for stricter vetting and accountability within the department. City officials have not yet released further details about pending internal reviews or policy changes.
