MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Roshaundra Burwell, 54, was arrested after an internal audit revealed she allegedly stole more than $223,000 from Memphis Rox and One Family Memphis, a local non-profit organization.
Jason Mulligan, Interim Executive Director of both organizations, reported the case to Memphis Police Department on April 28 after discovering unauthorized payments made by Burwell using the non-profit’s First Horizon bank account.
Burwell, who managed the finances, reportedly used the organization’s funds between January 2022 and April 2025 to pay personal expenses, including credit card bills and utility payments.
Records from multiple banks showed payments totaling approximately $37,291 to American Express, $180,180 to Chase, and $5,732 to Memphis Light, Gas & Water (MLGW), amounting to a total theft of $223,203.
Charged with Theft of Property between $60,000 and $250,000, Burwell was booked into Shelby County Jail on June 28 with bond set at $50,000. She was released on bond the following day.
Burwell is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 30.
