DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — A Darlington man is facing serious charges, including drug possession and domestic violence, after a disturbing incident involving a child, according to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO).
Deputies responded to a call on Springwood Drive involving a man with active warrants for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and domestic violence in the first degree.
Authorities say Ronald Wayne Flanary Jr. choked a victim who was holding his two-year-old child during the confrontation. The domestic violence charge stems from this physical altercation, which posed a threat not only to the victim but also to the child.
While deputies were on the scene, a bag of marijuana was found. A further search uncovered a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Flanary was taken into custody and formally charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and domestic violence in the first degree.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities emphasized the seriousness of domestic violence cases, especially when children are involved.
