NORTH BAY, ONTARIO — The North Bay Police Service Street Crime Unit has charged two individuals following a drug trafficking investigation that led to a major seizure on July 1, 2025.
As part of an ongoing operation, officers from the Street Crime Unit—assisted by patrol section members—conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of two Brampton men.
Charged Individuals:
Ronald Byfield, 34, of Brampton, Ontario
Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Jahsya Burke, 21, of Brampton, Ontario
Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
Breach of a Peace Bond
Items Seized:
195.1 grams of cocaine (approximate street value: $15,600)
$905 in Canadian currency
2013 Lexus motor vehicle
Inspector Scott McFarlane praised the collaborative efforts behind the investigation, stating:
“This investigation highlights the dedication and effectiveness of our Street Crime Unit in identifying and disrupting the flow of illegal drugs into our community… The commitment to protecting North Bay and all our communities and residents is commendable.”
The North Bay Police Service also acknowledged the Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Section for their support.
Both suspects were held for a bail hearing.
