Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a Cut Off couple, Ronald Click (54) and Mary Click (48), on charges of residential contractor fraud.
In June 2025, a homeowner in Larose reported paying the couple several thousand dollars for renovation work that was never completed. An investigation revealed that the Clicks operated under the name “Southern Hospitality, LLC,” but the business was not officially registered, nor did either individual hold a valid Louisiana contractor’s license.
Detectives were unable to find any licensing history for the Clicks or their business. Based on the findings, warrants were issued, and on July 9, 2025, both Ronald and Mary Click were arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex. Each was charged with one count of residential contractor fraud and released after posting $25,000 bail.
Authorities are encouraging anyone who hired Southern Hospitality, LLC or the Clicks for incomplete or substandard work to contact the Contractor Fraud Hotline at (985) 413-4498 or email contractorfraud@lpso.net.
The Sheriff’s Office also reminds residents to stay vigilant for signs of contractor scams, including door-to-door solicitations, demands for large upfront payments, and high-pressure tactics. Always verify that contractors are licensed, bonded, and insured, especially for projects exceeding $7,500, which require a state license. Licensing status can be checked at LSLBC.gov.
Hiring unlicensed contractors can leave homeowners vulnerable to poor workmanship, lack of warranty, and legal liability.
