JONESBORO, Ark. – A routine traffic stop in Jonesboro led to a felony drug arrest over the holiday weekend.
Ronald A. Banter, 54, of Hoxie, was taken into custody Friday night after Jonesboro police discovered suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop on Gee Street, just north of the railroad tracks.
At approximately 8:17 p.m., Officer Alex Duncan stopped a white Chevrolet Blazer with a headlight out. Banter, the driver, gave consent for a search of the vehicle, according to the police report.
While issuing a written warning for the headlight, Duncan noticed Banter had dropped a cigarette pack on the ground. Upon inspection, another officer found a piece of aluminum foil and a plastic bag inside the pack, containing what was believed to be methamphetamine.
Banter was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine (less than two grams). He was booked into the Craighead County Detention Center, and his vehicle was towed from the scene.
