RICHMOUND, Sask. — Romana Didulo, the self-declared “Queen of the Kingdom of Canada,” has been arrested by RCMP officers following an early morning raid on her compound in Richmound, Saskatchewan.
A livestream posted on Telegram at 5:51 a.m. CST Wednesday captured the moment two RCMP officers in tactical gear entered a room where Didulo was standing. “Leave the phone down. You’re under arrest,” one officer said before taking her into custody. The video ended shortly after, with the camera pointed toward the floor.
While the RCMP have yet to officially confirm any arrests, they acknowledged a “significant police presence” in Richmound as part of an ongoing investigation. The force emphasized that there is no known risk to public safety at this time.
Didulo and her followers have been occupying a decommissioned school in Richmound—a village of just 118 residents—for the past two years. Her group, known for extreme anti-government beliefs, is widely considered a cult and has its roots in the QAnon conspiracy movement.
Christine Sarteschi, a professor at Chatham University who studies extremist movements, describes Didulo as a central figure in a growing sovereign citizen movement. “She tells followers she’s the ultimate authority and ruler under natural law. They believe they don’t have to pay taxes or follow government laws,” Sarteschi explained.
Followers also believe Didulo possesses alien powers and reject vaccinations and other mainstream practices. Their presence has caused considerable unrest in Richmound. In July, the village office limited public access after reports of harassment and intimidation.
The situation escalated when one of Didulo’s followers, Rick Manz, was charged with assault, resisting arrest, and uttering threats.
Authorities continue to investigate, and updates are expected as more information becomes available.
