WACO, Texas (KWTX) — A Waco man, Rolando Cuevillas, 42, was sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday after pleading guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child and engaging in organized criminal activity tied to a major vehicle theft ring.
Cuevillas pleaded guilty to two first-degree felony charges: sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl in July 2023 and participating in a widespread vehicle theft ring responsible for stealing $750,000 worth of vehicles and trailers throughout Central Texas.
Under a plea agreement, prosecutors recommended a 15-year sentence, with dismissal of a third-degree felony tampering with evidence charge. Judge Susan Kelly approved the plea, ordering Cuevillas to stay away from the victim and register as a sex offender.
The young victim initially reported inappropriate touching and photos taken by Cuevillas. Later, she alleged sexual assault during a forensic interview.
Cuevillas was already jailed for his role in the vehicle theft ring before the sexual assault charges. His co-defendants — Rolando Hernandez, Orlando Crespo, Isabell Gonzales, and Anthony Contreras — have all pleaded guilty and received prison sentences ranging from 10 to 30 years.
Cuevillas’ 15-year sentence for organized criminal activity will run concurrently with the child assault term.
