BAY COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with a recent burglary at ZooWorld, where animals were reportedly harassed.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) responded to the incident on the morning of June 17 after ZooWorld staff discovered a section of perimeter fencing had been damaged. Staff reported that an intruder entered the farmyard area and disturbed the animals.

Following an investigation, officials identified the suspect as Roland Matthew Bohley, 34, of Sarasota County. By the time the suspect was identified, he had already returned to his home county. Arrest warrants were quickly secured.

On June 25, BCSO located Bohley at a hotel in Manatee County and worked with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office to take him into custody. He was booked into the Manatee County Jail and is currently awaiting extradition to Bay County.

Bohley is facing charges of burglary and criminal mischief, with additional charges expected as the investigation continues.
