In a major action against street crime, Delhi Police have dismantled an active gang involved in multiple mobile snatching and vehicle theft cases in East Delhi. Three accused, including a receiver of stolen property, have been arrested in the operation.

According to an official statement by the East District Police, the crackdown resulted in solving 14 criminal cases and recovering several stolen items, including mobile phones, motorcycles, and scooties.

A team from Pandav Nagar police station carried out the operation as part of an intensified drive to curb street crime. Acting on specific intelligence during routine picket checking on March 22, police intercepted two suspects riding a white scooty and apprehended them on the spot.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in multiple snatching incidents, leading to the recovery of two stolen mobile phones. Further investigation helped police identify and arrest a receiver of stolen goods from Kalyan Puri, from whom another stolen mobile phone was recovered.

Police also seized the scooty used in the crimes, along with an additional stolen scooty and a motorcycle.

The arrested accused have been identified as Rohit Vashisht alias Kalu, Manjeet from Kalyan Puri, and Bharat Chauhan (24). Rohit has a criminal history involving 17 cases, including robbery and snatching, while Manjeet has been linked to 35 previous cases, including serious offences such as murder, robbery, and violations under the NDPS Act. He was recently released from jail in November 2025. Bharat Chauhan is reportedly involved in event-related work.

The operation was conducted by a dedicated police team comprising Sub-Inspector Ashish, Head Constables Narender and Rajeev, and Constables Ramkesh and Sarvender, under the leadership of SHO Yogender Meena and supervision of ACP Amandeep Kaur.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East District) Rajeev Kumar stated that the operation reflects the department’s continued efforts to tackle habitual offenders and ensure public safety.

Recovered items include three stolen mobile phones (Vivo, Motorola, and OnePlus), one motorcycle, and two scooties, one of which was used in the commission of the crimes.

Police said further investigation is underway to identify more victims and uncover the full extent of the gang’s network.
