Delhi Resident Part of Network Selling Illegally Obtained Videos

In a shocking breach of privacy, a simple QR code was all it took for individuals to access stolen CCTV footage of women undergoing gynaecological checkups at a hospital in Rajkot. The footage was illegally obtained after hackers infiltrated the hospital’s CCTV system, with the videos then converted into QR codes and sold for profit.

Rohit Sisodiya, a Delhi resident, was arrested by the Ahmedabad cybercrime cell on Wednesday in connection with this disturbing crime. According to authorities, Parit Dhameliya, the primary suspect in the case, had hacked the hospital’s CCTV system and obtained sensitive footage. Instead of directly distributing these illegal videos, Sisodiya, seeking to avoid detection, turned them into QR codes. These codes were sold to others, who uploaded the videos to Telegram and YouTube channels.

A diligent combination of technical analysis and human intelligence led to Sisodiya’s arrest in Delhi. He is now in police custody for six days, as investigators continue their probe. Sisodiya holds a diploma in medical laboratory technology and had a direct role in the sale of the footage.

The disturbing breach began when the CCTV system in the hospital was hacked from Latur, Maharashtra, with clips of the stolen footage circulated on Telegram under the names ‘Megha Mbbs’ and ‘Megha Demos Group.’ Investigations revealed the complex nature of the crime, with various individuals involved in different aspects of the operation.

Sisodiya’s arrest marks the seventh person detained in this case. Earlier arrests included Prajwal Teli, the alleged mastermind from Latur, and his accomplices, including Parit Dhameliya, Vaibhav Mane, and Ryan Pereira. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the full scope of the criminal network behind this invasive breach of privacy.
