LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Deputies arrested 25-year-old Roberto Espino Monday night after a high-speed chase and discovering 150 grams of cocaine concealed in a fast food bag.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) reported deputies first spotted Espino at a gas station on 10th Avenue North, a known area for narcotics activity. Espino entered a black Nissan with heavily tinted windows and drove off. When deputies attempted a traffic stop near Lakewood Road and Corrigan Court, Espino fled at high speed.
PBSO maintained visual contact and later found the vehicle parked near a residence on Stevens Road. Espino was apprehended walking near a canal bank.
A search of the car uncovered 150 grams of cocaine hidden inside a Burger King bag, along with 200 grams of THC oil in vape pens labeled “100% organic cannabis.” Deputies also detected a strong marijuana odor emanating from the vehicle. Keys discarded by Espino were recovered from nearby woods.
Espino now faces multiple felony charges, including cocaine trafficking, possession of marijuana over 20 grams, and fleeing and eluding law enforcement. He is currently held at Palm Beach County Jail.
No injuries were reported during the incident. This arrest underscores ongoing law enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking in high-crime areas.
