BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. — A Bangor man on probation was arrested after deputies discovered a rifle, ammunition and drug paraphernalia during a search of his home.

According to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded Monday, Feb. 2, to a call for service at a residence in the 1500 block of Swedes Flat Road in Bangor. There, they contacted Robert Vanderploeg, 52, who authorities say had a confirmed felony arrest warrant and was currently on probation.

During a probation search of the residence, deputies located a rifle, ammunition and drug paraphernalia. Investigators said they found evidence indicating Vanderploeg was in possession of the firearm and ammunition.

Vanderploeg was arrested on suspicion of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as on the outstanding felony warrant. He was booked into the Butte County Jail.
