WARREN COUNTY, Tenn. — A significant drug trafficking operation came to a halt with the arrest of Robert “Bobby” Alexander Russell, 38, of Smyrna, Tennessee. Russell, a convicted felon with a prior drug conviction in Cannon County, is accused of being one of the leading methamphetamine suppliers in Warren County and the surrounding region.

The arrest occurred in the early hours of September 6, 2025, following a coordinated effort between the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, McMinnville Police Department, and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.

Russell was charged with:

Felony Possession of Methamphetamine (453 grams) with Intent to Deliver

Driving While in Possession of Methamphetamine

Narcotics investigators had been tracking Russell for roughly two months. Authorities allege he had been transporting two to three pounds of meth multiple times a week from Smyrna into Warren County and nearby areas for over a year.

Sheriff Jackie D. Matheny, Jr. commended the collaborative effort, stating:

“The arrest of Mr. Russell represents a major victory in our fight against illegal drugs. He was a key supplier in our community. Removing him is a crucial step in protecting our citizens and sending a message to other traffickers.”

Russell is currently held at the Warren County Jail on a $150,000 bond. Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing and encourages the public to report any drug-related activity.
