CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Two individuals have been arrested in Craven County following an investigation into a multi-state leasing fraud and identity theft scheme.
Authorities say 80-year-old Robert Pickard Jr. and 67-year-old Cindy Greeno were taken into custody on June 20 after deputies searched a residence at 5510 Gondolier Drive. The arrests followed multiple tips about fraudulent rental activity.
Both suspects have been charged with:
Eight felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense
Two felony counts of identity theft
Two felony counts of conspiracy
According to investigators, the duo used stolen identities to secure leases and collect rent from multiple homes in the Fairfield Community. The fraudulent activity is believed to extend beyond North Carolina, potentially affecting Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Missouri, South Carolina, and Virginia.
Warrants state that the pair acted “with intent to cheat and defraud,” exploiting false identities to gain financial benefits and rental agreements.
Deputies also revealed that Greeno used numerous aliases, including:
Cindy K Bacon, Cindy Kay Green Bacon, Cindy Seemer Bacon, Cindy Green, Cindy Kay Jackson, Cindy Seeber, Cindy K Seemen, Cindy Strickland, Deborah Davis, Kimberly Claudson, and Deborah Sweeney.
Both Pickard and Greeno are currently held in custody under $560,000 bond each.
The investigation remains ongoing, and more charges may be filed depending on the outcome.
