Fargo Man Arrested After Fleeing Police in Stolen Car
FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A 29-year-old Fargo man, Robert Peightal, was arrested after a brief police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP), officers were notified by the Metro Street Crimes unit on Tuesday, December 10, about a vehicle located on May Lane in Fargo. The vehicle had previously fled from authorities a week earlier.
Upon arrival, NDHP officers discovered Peightal sleeping in the passenger seat of the car. As officers approached him, Peightal woke up, moved to the driver’s seat, and drove off. Authorities attempted to box the car in, but Peightal turned the vehicle around and drove through a yard, narrowly avoiding hitting a pedestrian.
Approximately 15 minutes later, officers from the Metro Street Crimes unit located the vehicle again in the rear parking lot of an apartment building at 821 7th Ave N. Peightal was apprehended by officers as he walked away from the car.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Fargo. Peightal also had three active warrants for his arrest out of Cass County, ND. He was arrested and booked into the Cass County Jail facing multiple charges, including:
Felony Reckless Endangerment
Felony Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle
Felony Theft – Possession of Stolen Property (Motor Vehicle)
Felony Possession of Methamphetamine
Misdemeanor Driving Under Suspension
Misdemeanor Drug Paraphernalia
Misdemeanor Possession of a Reproduced License
Peightal is currently awaiting further legal proceedings related to the charges.
