DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) — A 57-year-old Manteo man, Robert Ford, is facing multiple felony drug charges after a traffic stop on Roanoke Island led to the discovery of marijuana and paraphernalia.
According to the Dare County Sheriff’s Office, the stop occurred just after 10:15 p.m. Saturday near the Virginia Dare Bridge on Highway 64. Deputies pulled over the vehicle for a traffic violation when a K9 unit alerted on the car, prompting a search.
During the search, deputies found a felony amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Ford was arrested and charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana and Felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana. He was taken to the Dare County Detention Center under a $7,500 secured bond.
Authorities say the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to target illegal drug activity throughout Dare County.
