A man was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 25, after authorities from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) executed a search warrant in Birmingham. Robert Earl Wingate, 35, was taken into custody following the operation in the 900 block of 47th Place North, which led to the seizure of various narcotics and weapons.
According to JCSO, the narcotics unit, supported by the drone unit, found several drugs and firearms at Wingate’s location. The seized items included 43 grams of marijuana, 31.29 grams of cocaine, 29.06 grams of methamphetamine, 2.52 grams of heroin, 4 suboxone strips, and crushed alprazolam. Authorities also recovered a Glock 19 9mm handgun with a drum magazine, an Emperor 12a shotgun, a PSA PA-15 multi-caliber rifle with a drum, along with other weaponry and accessories such as magazines, ammunition, and digital scales.
Sheriff Mark Pettway emphasized the ongoing commitment to removing dangerous drugs and weapons from the streets of Jefferson County. Wingate faces multiple felony charges, including unlawful distribution and possession of controlled substances, drug trafficking, and being a certain person forbidden from possessing firearms. He is currently held at the Jefferson County Jail.
