Air Force pilot Robert Crawford has been arrested for the alleged murder of his wife, Frances Crawford, whose death was initially reported as a lawnmower “rollover.” The 49-year-old Queensland psychologist and mother of three was found dead on July 30 at their Upper Lockyer property, west of Brisbane.
Initially labeled an accident, police have since indicated they believe Frances was murdered. On Thursday, detectives charged the 47-year-old Robert with one count of murder (domestic violent offense) and one count of misconduct with a corpse. Ongoing investigations have prompted authorities to encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Frances was discovered at the base of a retaining wall, leading to initial reports of the accident. However, Detective Superintendent George Marchesini confirmed the shift in investigation focus, stating, “We are now alleging Ms. Crawford was murdered.”
Robert Crawford has been the focal point of the inquiry from the start, and investigators are also examining his relationships with various women, both nationally and internationally. Marchesini noted that these connections may provide insights into Frances’s circumstances.
In a statement to the media, Frances’s family expressed their devastation, emphasizing the profound impact of her loss on her three children. “While today is a step forward, sadly nothing will bring Frances back to us,” they shared.
