PEORIA (25News Now) — A man already sentenced to 69 years in prison for the shooting death of a woman on New Year’s Eve 2022 has pleaded guilty to another killing on the same day.
Robert A. White, 30, entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm on Wednesday, admitting to the shooting of 35-year-old Bridgett Ross, which resulted in her death and left another man injured.
White was sentenced to 20 years for second-degree murder and 10 years for aggravated battery. These sentences will be served consecutively, meaning White now faces a total of 99 years in prison—essentially a life sentence, according to the Peoria County State’s Attorney.
The plea deal was offered to spare Ross’ family from enduring the trauma of a trial. Prosecutors explained that White had been celebrating the new year with his previous victims, Daniella Jackson and Conway, on December 31, 2022. That evening ended with both Jackson and Conway being shot.
White then fled to Ross’ apartment, where he fired through the door, grazing one man in the neck before fatally shooting Ross.
