WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) – Rick Labelle, the owner of Abel Construction and Remodeling LLC, has been arrested following allegations of a home improvement scam that cost homeowners over $100,000.

The incident came to light when a homeowner contacted authorities, stating that they had hired Labelle’s company for a project that was never completed. Despite paying significant amounts, the work was left unfinished.

After a thorough investigation, police discovered that the contractor’s license for Abel Construction had been revoked by the Department of Consumer Protection (DCP). Further probing revealed that Labelle had allegedly forged documents and provided the homeowner with counterfeit receipts in an attempt to mislead them.

Labelle, 37, of Tolland, has been charged with first-degree larceny and four counts of third-degree forgery.
