On April 23, Richard Wesley Turner, 41, of Tupelo, was arrested after attempting to cash a fraudulent check at First Choice Bank, located at 3850 North Gloster Street. Turner caused a disturbance at the bank before police arrived, prompting bank employees to call law enforcement.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that Turner had attempted to cash a check that was later determined to be fake. He was initially detained for disturbing the business, and after further investigation, he was charged with one count of uttering a forgery.
Turner appeared in city court where bond was set at $5,000 for the forgery charge.
