SPRING, TX — On September 24, 2025, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office District 2 units arrested two men suspected of stealing copper wire in Spring.

Deputies patrolling the area just after 9 a.m. noticed a suspicious vehicle parked behind an abandoned gas station at 650 Sawdust Road. The occupants, identified as 50-year-old Richard Sliger and 39-year-old Dan-el Dalman, were contacted and consented to a search of their vehicle.

Inside, deputies found a large quantity of copper wire and tools typically used for stripping wire. They also recovered two diaries containing notes about local construction sites and specific locations consistent with the area of the arrest. Over $1,900 in cash was discovered, believed to be proceeds from the sale of stolen copper.

A nearby electrical pole was found tampered with and missing copper wire matching the material found in the suspects’ vehicle. Additionally, wire had been pulled from the abandoned gas station building itself.

Both Sliger and Dalman were taken into custody and are being transported to Montgomery County Jail, where they will face charges of theft of metal.
